Paamul

Paamul, together with Xcalacoco and Tankah, all seem to have been ports of loading and unloading for the Maya embarkations that carried merchandise throughout the Caribbean Sea, along routes that stretched far beyond the Gulf of Mexico. These are sandy beaches with gentle slopes, a natural terrain favorable for loading and unloading the many commercial products that characterized the Maya's intense economic activity.

Today, it's difficult to think of this dream-like bay close to the reefs called Paamul as a center of commercial traffic where "along the coast were many Indians with two flags, which they raised and lowered" according to Juan de Grijalva, a Spanish "Conquistador" (Conqueror). Today, Paamul is a place for resting, chosen by those who prefer nature as a getaway from everyday stress, where you can enjoy scuba diving and many other water sports.

It is also the place chosen by sea turtles to lay their eggs at night, between the months of May to July, thus making this an ecological site of choice for those who want to experience the pleasures of nature at its most unspoiled.

Paamul, located halfway on the road between Puerto Aventuras and Xcaret, offers the comfort of cabins located under shady palm trees, between the jungle and the turquoise sea, plus the chance to enjoy activities such as fishing and scuba diving, in a fantasyland within view of the Caribbean Sea's turquoise waters.
