Another site located on a small bay between Xel-Ha and Tulum is Tankah. Portions of a small temple are all that remains of what once was one of the most important port cities and ceremonial centers for the Mayan Culture. It once occupied a much larger area as evidenced by the architectural remains scattered throughout the jungle.

This archaeological site is not open to the public. To visit, it is necessary to request permission from INAH (National Institute of Anthropology & History).
