COMMUNITY TOURS SIAN KA'AN
Fly fishing Grand Slam. We will travel along the coastal road between Tulum and Punta Allen. Just 20 minutes after passing the Sian Ka'an entrance, you will find yourself in the boat shooting in the first flat. Throughout the fishing journey, the local guide and the captain will move to at least three different flats and change the flies, hand made by themselves, to give you as many chances as possible. After lunch you still have more opportunities while the sunlight allows you to identify the fish schools. Finally you will be taken back to the vehicle, and arrive at your hotel at 17:30, ready to rest.
Tour Itinerary:
- 7:30 Pick up at your hotel.
- 8:00 Register at Sian Ka'an entrance.
- 8:30 shoots for practice in the first flat.
- 9:00 - 13:00 Visit two flats
- 13:00 -14:00 Lunch
- 14:00 -16:00 Visit one flat
- 16:00-16:30 Return to the vehicle
- 17:00 goin back to the hotel
- 17:30 End of the tour.

PESCA MAYA
Ascension Bay - Sian Ka'an Biosphere Preserve
Bone fishing is saltwater fly fishing experience at it's best. Crystal clear water flats, lonely bonefish, bonefish tailing, bonefish schools Blue, green, turtle flats, mangroves. Here you can find almost every scenario.
Variety is the word to describe Ascension Bay and the Boca Paila flats. Here you can find every fish found in the Caribbean Flats.
Bonefish: Provides plenty of action year round, average size is 3-5 pounds with some bigger ones.
Smart and beautiful Permit: is the ultimate fly-fishing challenge, available year round.
Tarpon and its explosive jumps are always exciting. August through December are the best months
Snook is strong and fun. Aggressive barracudas on fly or spinning rods, Jacks. December through March.
Family fishing trips are available through our kids program. We focus on snappers, either with spinning rods for children 6 or older or hand line for younger kids. They will love the action. We will try bottom fishing and spot fishing near the mangroves. It will be a day that you wont forget.
Rate: US$350.00 per boat, two anglers, and 8 hours of guided fishing.
Includes: tackle, cooler with 6 Liters of purified water, 4 sodas 4 beers, and 6 sandwiches with fruit and snacks.
Transportation to and from your hotel is available, (highly recommended) for US$100.00 more.
Pick up is between 6:00 and 6:30 AM. We will drop you back at your hotel around 7:00 pm.
CUZAN GUEST HOUSE PUNTA ALLEN
Fly Fishing:
As the bay nearby to Cuzan is a natural lobster fishery, brown bonefish flies, reddish browns, pink and white Crazy Charlies and natural greens with a little sparkle are good producers.
The suggested length is around 3/4 of an inch long, tied bend back style. Weighting the fly with bead chain or lead eyes on the top side of the shank will cause the fly to flip over and the hook point will face upward opposite the bottom.
Crab imitations are used for permit. Florida style tarpon flies are tied on 1/0 and 2/0 hooks--the best colors are brown, deep blue and black with an overall length of 2-1/4 to 3-2/2 inches. Barracuda flies include deceivers and tube flies on 1/0 and 2/0 hooks.
Other items that should be on your checklist:
- Good pair of polarized glasses
- 25-30 waterproof sunscreen
- Mosquito repellent (many guests have found Avon Skin-So-Soft adequate)
- Flashlight
- Water bottle
- First aid kit
- Wide brim hat
- Long trousers and long sleeve shirts. While wading the flats, the sun and the reflective rays can toast you!
- Lightweight rain jacket
- Good pair of wading shoes or sneakers
- Clippers, pliers, extra line, leader material, hook sharpener or file and extra flies and lures

Spin Fishing :
Lightweight-spinning outfits 6-7 feet--filled with 4-8 pound test line--work for bonefish and permit. Small Millie's buck tails 1/5 ounce and Bill's jig worms (light and dark brown) work well.
For tarpon use 10-12 lb. test line, with a 40-50 lb. shock tippet. Bring 3M and TNT Mirrolures, Rapalas and Tube Lures in pink or green with wire tippets for barracudas. If you wish to test the reef fishing, bring 20-30 lb outfits with jigs and lures to match.
